SL401 makes you fluent. IN SIGN makes you useful.

IN SIGN is the collaboration stage that comes after SL401. You're paired one-on-one with a Deaf sign language expert who builds the vocabulary your own field actually needs — medicine, therapy, education, whatever it is — until you can hold a real conversation with a Deaf person, no one translating for either of you. Then you start publishing what you've learned, in sign, on your own Instagram.

Where courses stop

General fluency doesn't cover a diagnosis.

SL401 gives you grammar, everyday exchanges, and the confidence to hold a basic conversation. It was never built to cover the vocabulary a doctor needs for a diagnosis, a teacher needs for a parent meeting, or a case worker needs for an intake interview. That gap is exactly where most graduates get stuck — fluent in the classroom, silent in the room that actually matters.

What SL401 gave you

  • Grammar and sentence structure you can build on
  • Everyday vocabulary — greetings, questions, small talk
  • Enough confidence to hold a basic conversation
  • A foundation, not a finish line

What IN SIGN adds

  • The vocabulary specific to your own field, term by term
  • Practice with a Deaf sign language expert, not a classmate
  • Real conversations with real Deaf people before you're done
  • A channel of your own to keep signing after the program ends

This isn't a refresher course. It's the difference between passing SL401 and actually being able to use it.

The program

Two stages. You're here for the second.

SL401 is the prerequisite everyone takes first. IN SIGN is the collaboration that turns that fluency into something you can actually use — with your own patients, students, or clients.

STAGE 01 · PREREQUISITE

SL401

General Lebanese Sign Language fluency — grammar, everyday conversation, the basics everyone needs before going further.

Required before you applyAlready finished it? You're ready for the next stage.

STAGE 02 · IN SIGN COLLAB

Your field, in sign

One-on-one sessions with a Deaf sign language expert, built entirely around the vocabulary your work actually needs — then real practice putting it to use.

Applications openEnds when you can hold a real conversation, not on a fixed schedule.

How it actually goes.

Six steps, from application to the first time you sign with someone who isn't a classmate.

Any term that doesn't already exist in Lebanese Sign Language is agreed with the Deaf community first — the same process behind our terminology work with the Ministry of Education — never invented and handed to you.

The words that don't exist yet

Lebanese Sign Language doesn't yet have a settled sign for plenty of what your field needs — a diagnosis, a legal term, a technical process.

  • New signs are agreed with the Deaf community in open sessions, never invented and pushed out
  • The sign becomes part of the public IN SIGN glossary, credited to your cohort
  • It stays free and public once it's agreed
  • You leave knowing terms that didn't exist in LSL before you needed them

Practice with real stakes

This isn't a classroom exercise — you're preparing to sign with someone who actually needs to understand you.

  • Every session is led by a Deaf sign language expert, not a hearing instructor
  • You're evaluated on whether a Deaf person can actually follow you
  • The program ends when you can hold the conversation, not on a calendar date
  • What you publish afterward is real — your own account, your own name
For organizations

Send your team through it.

Hospitals, schools, banks and NGOs can enroll staff who've already finished SL401 into an IN SIGN collab built around their department's vocabulary — so patients, students and customers who are Deaf get served directly, without waiting on an interpreter.

Enroll your staff

Built around your field, not a generic course.

  • Vocabulary sessions tailored to your department — reception, clinical, HR, whatever the role needs
  • Staff finish able to serve Deaf clients and patients directly
  • Progress you can actually report on, not just attendance
  • A next step for staff who've already completed SL401

Sponsor a cohort

For foundations and companies backing accessibility as more than a line item.

  • Fund seats for professionals who serve Deaf communities — public hospitals, NGOs, schools
  • Credited as the sponsor of that cohort
  • Every term the cohort helps settle joins the public glossary, permanently
  • Sessions run in partnership with Deaf sign language experts throughout

Ready to move past SL401?

If you've finished the course and want to actually use it — with your patients, your students, your customers — apply for the next IN SIGN collab. Running a team that needs this instead? We can build a cohort around your field.

THE GAP

You can read this. Most Deaf Lebanese cannot.

Nine in ten cannot read fluently, and almost nothing here is made in sign language. There is no third option.
